A few kilometres off Aljezur, right by the road, Chill Out is an invitation to leisure, to the sensual pleasures of enjoying a type of cooking filled with exotic flavours, spicy or not. The beaches are not far away, and this is the ideal place for you to stop before getting to paradise: sit down, relax and enjoy the getaway!
Arriving at this part of Algarve a few years ago, Miguel has always been involved in the catering industry, Together with Dora they decided to manage this project called Chill Out. The space is very pleasant, decorated with pieces brought from travels around the world. It also has a protected outdoor area and an esplanade in front of the mythical national road 120. Here you can forget about time while laying on a hammock and enjoying a cocktail or a fresh fruit cocktail.
The food is a combination of traditional cooking of an area by the ocean and a more contemporary cooking style, with emphasis on the grill. Start your meal with some ocean flavours such as barnacles, mussels or crab; or you may try different types of cheeses au gratin, stuffed mushrooms or smoked salmon carpaccio. For the main dish, try the grilled fresh fish, octopus, the enormous grilled squid or the giant tiger shrimp from Mozambique grilled with ginger, garlic, malagueta pepper (hot and spicy) and lemon juice. The salads are varied and a guarantee of a light meal. But the real highlight is the grilled meat from Argentina. With a touch of chimmi churri (Argentinean sauce) and served with rice, beans and farofa (manioc flour with pork sausage), one cannot leave without tasting this house specialty. If you like hot and spicy food, there are two house sauces: believe us; you will never forget a meal like this one!
Desserts are also a revelation. Between grilled pineapple with honey, lime juice and rum, grilled banana with mascarpone (cheese with rum and honey), grilled mango with lime juice and honey or chocolate fondue with strawberries and banana, the difficulty lies in the choice. There are also fresh fruit juices, sparkling wine sangria with wild berries and margaritas, daiquiris, mojitos and the always delicious caipirinhas and caipiroskas served in giant glasses.
Aljezur is not far from this paradise of flavours. Take the opportunity to stroll around its steeped streets and enjoy the view of the tilled plain from the castle hill. Amoreira, Arrifana and Monte Clérigo beaches are right next door and, on a concert night, come back to Chill Out for an evening of live music where you’ll be able to listen to Brazilian sounds, Jazz, Pop, Rock that will be a guarantee of a very pleasant evening.
