On a privileged location overlooking Arrifana Beach, Restaurante da Praia has everything so that you can make the most of Costa Vicentina's regional flavours. The decoration is simple, the scenery of an overwhelming beauty, with one of the most emblematic beaches of the area in the background, a true invitation to the long days spent between the ocean and the pleasure of sitting down for a meal with sand still on your feet.
It has been over 14 years since João Pedro started running this restaurant. This experience resulted in a varied and surprising menu, appropriate to accommodate all tastes. With a personalized service, Restaurante da Praia bets on the quality and freshness of its products, and on a fast and friendly service.
The “petiscos”, or yummy appetizers, are an irresistible invitation to start your meal. If you prefer the tastes of the ocean, you can choose between barnacles, octopus salad or cod fish with chick peas and fish roe, fried moray eel or the traditional ”sweated” octopus with sweet potatoes. If you are more into the tastes of the land, then the Monchique blood sausage, small pieces of toast with tomato and goat cheese, or the sweet potato fried peel will undoubtedly surprise you.
For the main course, you can count on delicious fresh fish caught by local fishermen, so appropriate to enjoy along with the ocean view, fish with pasta or octopus rice, as well as the grilled top sirloin Brazilian style, one of the house specialities, served with rice, beans and manioc, or French fries and a side dish made with toasted manioc flower.
If you are into a lighter meal, you only have to choose from a variety of cold salads and vegetarian dishes such as whole rice or whole pasta with sautéed vegetables. The sandwiches, crepes (sweet or salty), toasted sandwiches, natural fruit juices, milk shakes and the energy packed alternatives such as “açaí na tigela” (a dish made from açaí palm fruit from the Amazon) with banana, granola and honey, are the ideal option for a fast meal between a dip in the ocean and a surf lesson. You cannot leave without trying the house sangria or caipirinha. To top it all, finish your meal with a bowl of seasonal fruit or a home made dessert.
As you already know, Arrifana beach lies at your feet. But for a better view of this impressive coastline, take a stroll to Arrifana Fortress, where you can observe the mythical “Pedra da Agulha”, or Needle Rock, the small fishing harbour at a distance, the sand stretch and “Pontal da Carrapateira”, or Carrapateira promontory.
