Windmill of Odemira

In the Cerro dos Moinhos (windmills), we can observe the Windmill of Odemira which, together with the surrounding landscape, is a real ex-libris of Odemira.

T his windmill, which probably dates from 1874, was purchased by the Municipality of Odemira in 1989. After restored, a miller was hired in order to make this windmill go back to work in a traditional way. Currently it is being used by local people that there can buy flour or grinding grain, paying for this service 15% on the amount of cereal.

This windmill’s educational and touristic potential have been valued by the Municipality and it is often used for study visits and preparatory work of students of various educational institutions.
